.. Mak Lang, please help bake a cake for us...

The phone rang: "Mak Lang, we want to order cake for Mama's birthday tapi tak ada budget. Can you teach us how to bake??" - how very sweet and kesian pulak kat my nieces & nephew.

Since the kids say they want to surprise their Mama, therefore I could not bake the cake their home. So I had to do it from my house, baked the cakes the night before, layered it at night and finished the decoration in the morning so at tea time the kids could surprise her.

Vanila cake is one of my sister's favorites.

I made a simple two-layer vanila cake and the colors are white and pastel marine blue with tiny roses in pink/burgandy (roses are her favorite flowers).

When I arrived at their home, hiding the cake from their Mother (my sister) was the hardest part but when she saw the cake, the surprised look and happiness on her face really made the kids (and me) happy. They loved the cake and I got a extra BIG HUG from the kids for making their mother happy - which really was the best...! :)

...it means that Mummy is thinking of Your Happiness on this, your day of birth..., in fact everyday...

When it comes to wishing your loved ones on his or her birthday, originality and uniqueness is the key to make your dear one feel surprised and delighted. It's hard to put in to words what you want to express to the birthday boy or girl on that special day, but once you tell them how wonderful you feel on their birthday, the expression on their face with bright smile and cheerful look makes the day all the more special.

It's the birthday every girl looks forward to -her sweet 16th.

It was 12:01, a minute passed midnight, the phone rang.. damned..! who on earth would be calling me in the middle of the night and disturbed my beauty sleep! Picked up the phone and there she 'yelled" ..."HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUMMY..! (to be honest, I actually forgot that it was my birthday..!). I heard she gathered her friends around and the girls started singing the birthday song over the phone. Am touched... and smiled to myself when they were done. Aahh... how sweet of the girls.. (hope these girls did not get into troble with the warden for sneaking out of their dormitory at this time..!)

Anyway, it was my birthday last Friday and it was a little sad because it didn't feel so 'magical' anymore. I had a fantastic day (as much as you can have at work!) and the celebrations continued into the weekend with some wonderful presents and people.

When I was younger, I used to look forward to my birthday and count down the days till it was my special day and I got to do anything I wanted (within reason!) and it always seem to take aaaaages to come around. But now that I am older each birthday seems to come around quicker and quicker. I have come to accept that I am 'growing older'. There are so many things I want to learn, do and accomplish, but I feel like I am running out of time. Someone needs to tell this time-person to slow down for a bit :P
