Rainbow Cake

Sometimes a cake doesn't have to be shaped like a pirate or dragon to be incredible. Sometimes, a cake can just be a yummy layer cake with plain frosting that you make for a friend. This cake may look like an ordinary cake on the outside, when you make the first slice you soon realize that it's in fact the zaniest cake you've ever seen. Made with 6 rainbow layers, this cake may be the only one we've ever seen that 's more beautiful after you cut into it.

Anyway, I made this cake for my neighbour, for her nieces birthday (I think..).

I don't think anything else would have been more suitable than this monstrosity of a cake for those two lovely birthday girls...The smiley, happy, silly rainbows on this cake are totally inspired.

The six individually baked layers, and it's got a zing of lemon flavored icing. But the most important aspect of this cake, is that it's layered with Swiss Meringue Buttercream (specially requested), and frosted in vanila buttercream.

Why? Because exterior makes the cake look completely normal, but once you slice into it you realize... Oh Snap...! This cake is crazy..!!

Something for the household.

I don't know how, but it always happens that I end up baking when I want to use some ingredients to empty my fridge! Last time it was carrot cake and I emptied the carrots from the vegetable compartment. And this time, it was mixed fruit mixture that has been accupying a space in my refrigerator. I think I bought them from my bakery store some time back...(long..long.. time... ago... :)... )

Bake, cool the cuppies then decorate them with buttercream with carrot, grapes, manggo design or any other designs that you want for that matter. PERFECT for any little ones birthday or ANY DAY!!!

Yup... these cuppies were made in less than 4 hours..!

Bieber-mania

I was recently asked to make Justin Bieber cupcakes for a teen's birthday, who is a 'JB die-hard' fan.

Happy 15th Birthday Puteri...!

When you see these J-Bieber cuppies, you may not want to touch it... let alone eat it...! These delicious looking cupcakes are a different story. You can eat all of these.

This is a very beautiful woman....

This is my mother...

She has never been on the cover of a magazine (tak macam anak kembar dia yang dua orang tu.... - jangan marah AA & EE...! LoL), and most likely never will. But she IS beautiful! She doesn't color her hair, or wear makeup (with the exception of maybe 'bedak sejuk' couple of times a year) or own any designer clothes. But this woman has made hundreds of 'cok-kodok', 'nasi lemak,' 'rendang'..etc... from scratch, made thousands of delicious meals for her husband and children (at times with quite limited supplies) and folded tens of thousands of clothes! She has driven thousands of miles toting kirotang adik-beradik to and from school, 'kelas agama', 'balik kampung' dan banyak lagi. She has taught us, her seven children, how to read, write, balance a checkbook, prepare dinner, plant a garden, and generally how to be confident, well rounded human beings. She is now helping to teach most of these things to her 20 grandchildren....! She has been faithful, loving and devoted to her husband for over 54 years.

She is our mother and she is beautiful! We love you Mak..
