Chocolate-Cheese Cake...

Chocolate is my household's weakness, they love it in any form.
Chocolate cakes, pastries, ice-cream, fudge or just a simple chocolate bar.
They can have it any time.
It's not the taste or smell that turns them on, although that may be part of it.
No, it's something else in chocolate that accounts for their addiction.

Something dangerously chemical that works its magic in some primal corner of their brain. Something, well – Chocó latey..!

Made above Chocolate Cheese Cake for our dessert after dinner last night.

Love, love, love...

A lovely Wanie, who is a Dental Surgery student at MASHA College requested me to make cupcakes that summarise interest of her and her boyfriend.... LOVE that is..!

Chocolate cupcakes, topped with ganache, and vanila buttercream

Thanks Wanie for the order.

I hope the 1st anniversary celebration at the Curve, went with a bang..!

Ben 10

Throwing a themed birthday party can be one of the most enjoyable experience you can have as a parent and experience as a child.

My latest birthday cake project (this week) was for my new client's son, Muhammad's 3rd birthday.
He wanted a Ben 10 cake..
I was not sure if I could pull it off exactly, so I promised to do my best and took on the job.

This one was a Chocolate cake, filled with vanilla buttercream topped with Chocolate Ganache, covered with white Fondant Icing, and decorated with BEN 10 Edible Icing Image.

The birthday boy - Muhammad - flanked by his two loving sisters.

Cake is not complete without chocolate cupcakes topped with chocolate ganache.

Thanks Aini for the order.

Menagerie of purple & lavender cupcakes for Cik Wanie..

I was asked to bake a batch of colour-theme cupcakes for a very special birthday celebration on Saturday 22 May 2010.
Want to take a crack at guessing the color-theme of these cupcakes? heh...

These cupcakes were specially made for Cik Wanie's birthday celebration where the theme was purple and 1-Malaysia..... and they were delivered to Satay Station.

It seemed fitting to have a menagerie of mini-purple and lavender roses cupcakes arranged in a bouquet to match the party's purple theme... and the rest, as they say, is history.

Here's a few more purple cupcakes I knocked up for Cik Wanie.

One of Wanie's closest friends who was so kind enough to send me photo of her for me to come out with the edible icing image. (I like her dimple.. sweeeeet..!)

I hope these cupcakes will be well received..!

Happy Birthday Wanie...
By the way, Cik Wanie is a wedding planner who owns a very elegant boutique in Alor Star Kedah, check out her website:

Cupcakes made with Love....

Encourage your child to experiment with their own personal touches. Being involved in the preparation of cakes or cupcakes makes them taste even sweeter.
Why not make your child kitchen assistant for the day?

I did.

Give her a pinny and a wooden spoon, and everything your so called "Little Chef" needs to get started..and you'll get the baking done in half the time...!
Hmm well.... Just allow extra for clearing up...

Time to decorate.... It took her a few tries to get the swirl right
Easy does it... slowly...don't squeeze the cupcake too hard or you might damage the cup... Oops ..too late Girl... Ok, lets start again....

Yes.. perfect..!

Place the finishing touches on with sprinkles.....

...more sprinkles....

...ok..ok... just a little bit more sprinkles....

... and miniture fondant teddy bears..

For a child that 'designed' the cupcakes, she will be flavoured with the sweetness of "do-it-yourself" pride...! I know when she wanted to do this, I reminded her that it won't start out with aspirations to the Martha Stewart-like decorating cupcakes 'coz it might be disappointing. Reminded her to be prepared to expect more realistic, charmingly handmade results. And she will be sure to have a lot of fun and confidence with her own creative decorating jobs.

(Mummy.. stay away from these cupcakes... there are for my friends at skul..!)

For a girl who does'nt like to be in the kitchen.....the end-results is .... VIOLA......

aaahhhh... look at that... NOT BAD girl... not bad...
I wish I could have a taste of my daughter's scrumptious looking cupcakes.
My daughter has enjoyed baking & decorating them.
2.0 out of 5 stars cupcake making a mess of fun with my daughter...!

She was so proud when it is done...She called it "Cupcakes made with Love"

Ahem... Again... who are these cupcakes for Girl...???

To all those Teachers out there... I thank one and all

I had meant to write up this post yesterday, but time just went by. Anyhow, here I am now.
Yesterday, 16 May 2010, was Teacher's Day.
The day was named so in honour of ALL TEACHERS around the world; the idea is to remember and honor all the different people who have taught you, who shaped your thinking, who shared their knowledge with you.

Teachers are always very special. They make learning a wonderful experience for us.
But it is not often that we thank these wonderful people who help in many ways..

To my baby brother, Cikgu Eqbal (www.eqbalzack.blogspot.com)
...HAPPY TEACHER's Day...
I am sure you have been flooded with SMS and phone calls from your students & ex-students.

A box of vanilla cuppies from my daughter to her Cikgu Bonda..

To all those Teachers our there...I thank one and all.
Teaching is an admirable job;
I hope you will take pride in what you do.
Thank you.

Let our love never go away...

Cakes which were not only soothing to the eyes, pleasing to the palate but most importantly dulcifying to the heart and soul.

Butter Cake layered with Buttercream and topped with Chocolate Ganache
I could sense the wave, a strong current of glee heading my direction last week. Like a chain reaction, I was caught in the middle of it and escape was the last thing on my mind. The natural flow swept me into creating happy cupcakes as I call them.

Yes, cakes and cupcakes were capable of all that. The moment your eyes set on them, your heart melts and the instant your teeth sink in them, your eyes droop, your pulse drops and your muscles relax. It's the simple idea of giving and receiving, it's the thought of remembering and going the extra mile to do something special for the love of our lives.

And I am all about that folks.
Just love being in the middle of 'secret cake projects', by my sister's children, such as the ones featured in this entry.

Above were ordered by my sister's four lovely children...
Nur 'Adillah, Nur'Aishyah, Izzuddin & Sabrina

Kids...How on earth are you going to hide the cake & cupcakes from your Mama & Abah.. I have no idea...!
Anyway, to my only sister & bro-in-law...

Happy 18th Anniversary...

In Memory of Tiny, Our Dear Cat...

Tiny, our cat of 8 years, passed away on Saturday-May 15, 2010, few minutes before the call for Asar prayer.

How did she get her name....? Simple.. because she is such a 'Tiny' cat.
Tiny was an independent, outside cat, used to running in the great outdoors, We made her as comfortable as possible, giving in to her every whim. We took walks with her, played with her, spent as much time with her as possible.

Tiny was one of the litters from a stray cat who befriended us, we took her in our lives, and she saw us through the ups and downs, moved with us, waited for us when we went on vacation (her favorite spot was on the washing machine). She was always there...

She has the most unique personality of any cat we'd known (she just had her pride). She wasn't the mushy kind. She wasn't the kind to sleep on sofas all day. She loved the great outdoors, loved nature... espacially birds and lizards... occasionally rats. Loved her independence.

Tiny was smart and cunning. She liked to be treated as an equal - eat the same food we ate. She got closer to us as she aged. Never would have dreamed of stepping on a bed or a sofa when she was young. She learned to love us in a way we could understand.

Even though our other female cat ' Blackie' just gave birth to two lovely kittens two weeks ago... its not the same ..The new additions are not the same... because Tiny was part of our family for years.... and a void has been left in her place..

This was the most difficult day of our lives- especially my daughter, who cried non stop. We missed her very much, so I decided to pay my respects by writing this page.
I know Tiny is not human, and it may be a bit silly to make a memorial to a cat, but she meant so much to us, its the least I could do. May your soul Rest In Peace..
Tiny was later burried in front of our yard, after Maghrib...
The memories are etched in my mind... I'll never forget...
How you used to bring us lizards, small birds and rats... and leave them at the back yard...
(Its just like saying to us... Hey.. I brought home food for you guys..!)
How you would sit on top of the washing machine and meow-ing..everytime you see me at the kitchen sink (...such a soft voice..)...
How you cared for your kittens and left them in our care when you wanted a break (.. the trust..)
How you loved cold-leftover KFC and you'd go nuts when you heard the plastic wrap being opened..
How you liked to trim your claws on my bicycle tyres when I am not looking...
How you understood everything we said to the point of surprising us sometimes...
How you loved coming to the garden with us, and following us eventhough you didn'd want anybody to know you cared about us..
How you care for us and we for you...
Tiny... you will be missed...

Mother's Day: World's Highest Paid Professions

Its that time of the year again when newspapers are full of advertisements on what gifts to get for your mother and where to take her for dinner, etc...etc...
Running out of ideas..? Get her that expensive earings, or that comfortable pair of shoes, or that expensive hand-stiched leather handbag. Afterall, nothing is too expensive for the most important lady in your life.
But hold on, is that what she really wants?
You can't put a value on the sacrifices and things MUM does for you. But you can pay her back with the priceless gift of LOVE.
So, show her some this Mother's Day.
Give her a break, cook her favourite food, tell her how much you appreciate her.
And as an annual bonus...Make it really special for her...

I know the fact that my mum wants most is for her children to love and respect her and to appreciate her for all that she has done for us. I am sure there are many mothers out there who feel the same way.

I believe that's the least we can do for someone who picked us up and when we fell, who taught us our ABC, who held our hands on the first day of school, who made sure that we had nutritious food no matter what time of the day it was, who held us in her arms when we were ill and who to date, shares our joys and tears.

A daughter's relationship with her mum is a very special thing, I have a wonderful relationship with my Mum and I'm really grateful for that. Not only she is my closest confidante, she is also the person whom I can turn for advice on anything from clothes to matters of the heart.

Of course, it has not been smooth sailing all along, especially during my teenage years, but again, I don't think anyone can ever boast of that.

The important thing here is not to allow anything to rock that special bond. Sons and daughters must remember one thing.... no matter how angry you may be with your mother, you should never hurt her by saying or doing something which you may regret later.

Why? Simply because she is your mother and because of all the sacrifies she made for you.

So to all you people out there, nevermind if you aren't able to afford that designer bag for your Mum or treat her to an expensive dinner. Share your time with her and shower her with your love and appreciation not only on this one day, but all the year through. That will go a long way with her.

To those who haven't spoken to your Mum in ages, bridge that chasm now and take that first step yourself. I am sure you will never regret it.

I'm always looking for ways to make life easier for my mom who 'slave' away in the kitchen when I was little... She loves cakes... so I made this Blueberry Cheesecake for her on Mother's Day..

Selamat Hari Ibu..Mak

Mmmuuuuaaaahh... Saaayaaanngggg Mak...!

By the way, a recent survey was conducted on the top 20 highest paid profesions in the world. According to the report which includes surgeons, scientists, managing director, engineers and lawyers, on profession consistently tops the list.....MOTHER...

A mother's salary is the highest ...

...because the payment is LOVE.
