The day Roti Pratha becomes Minced Pie...

I was feeling a little bit adventurous today and was ready to try something new (not extraordinary...) . I have some frozen peas and minced meat, leaks, carrots 'kecut', and spent the entire morning googling for some interesting recipes and how best to enjoy all those ingredients. The search lasted for quite a while...but in the end, I decided to do it my way and concocted the recipe below since I didnt have many ingredients.

Roti Pratha Minced Pie
Ingredients:

2 table spoon vegetable oil
1 table spoon butter/margerine
1/2 cup Leak - diced
1/2 cup Carrot - diced
1/2 cup Frozen peas
1/2 tube Mince Meat
3 cloves Garlic - diced
1 bulb large Onion - diced
1 table spoon Black Pepper - put more if you prefer the heat!
1/2 cup Fresh Milk mixed with 1 table spoon Cornflour

And not forgetting 2 pieces Plain Roti Pratha, thawed.

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 200 deg C
Melt Butter in a large skillet over medium heat and add the oil.
Saute the mince meat then the onions and the garlic till fragant.
Throw in carrots, leak, peas and stir fry for 2-3 mins. Cook about 5 mins.
Now pour in the milk+cornflour mixture and stir constantly.
Sprinkle the black pepper and salt to taste. Set aside.

(the above filling is actually ready and tasty to eat with bread. You can skip the step below if you dont fancy thembaked. But it's worth a try)

Lay one sheet of the roti pratha (or puff pastry - mahal sikit la!), at the bottom of your baking dish. You may need to cut and use the access roti to cover the uncovered area. Spead the filling evenly over the dough. Top with the other shee of roti pratha, pinch the edges together to seal.

Bake for 25-30 mins in the preheated oven, until is golden brown (OK, mine is a bit more than golden brown.. LOL..!). Cool a few minutes before slicing and serving.

I had the whole dish to myself! No wonder I am feeling on the heavy side lately..!
